Institution for Exact Wood Science

As part of the Delft Wood Science Foundation (DWSF.nl), the aim of the Institution is the same, to take care of real scientific research on structural wood. Thus to contribute to the development and application of fundamental theory. This is necessary and possible, because there does not exist anything in this field that cannot be explained theoretically. This exact approach delivers the only way to provide the demanded real, calculable, sufficient reliable design and design rules even for new, never tested design cases. A scientific test program therefore always is connected to testing of theory because else test results and conclusions are meaningless and thus fraudulent. Because in the last decades rigorous design methods and Code rules were replaced by arbitrary curve fitting rules of theoretically meaningless experimental data, it was a main task of the DWSF to explain these data theoretically and to explain the contrary results of different institutes. Contrary to in the past, this did not lead to a general discussion, but even to boycott and censorship  and exclusion e.g. from CIB-W18. Also the task to verify the, by the theory predicted dangerous and uneconomical situations at application of incredible new empirical Code rules, is thus far effectively boycotted.
The task of the Institution thus remains to try to start discussion with the new generation of unprejudiced people and to give information and education about necessity of exact theory.
